Dental Implants in Pikesville
The inconvenience and discomfort that stems from losing even a single tooth can complicate your daily life. At Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry of Maryland
, Dr. Howard Rothschild is able to both place and restore
dental implants restorations in-house, working with you to design the appropriate solution.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants consist of three parts: the implant post, which acts as your new tooth root; the abutment, which is affixed into the implant and serves as an anchor for crowns and other restorations; and finally the crown, which resembles a natural tooth.
The Benefits of Dental Implant Restoration
Implant-supported restorations offer various benefits, including:
- Improved confidence in your smile
- Restored functionality of chewing and biting, and therefore digestion
- Enhanced oral health as well as general health
- Rejuvenated facial structure
We offer the following restorations in-house:
Crowns - Replacing the space left by a single missing tooth, these restorations restore the normal function of your smile. Our crowns are made from zirconia, which has been proven to be more durable than other popular alternatives such as porcelain. This material is especially beneficial for patients who grind their teeth at night.
Bridges – Dental bridges can fill gaps left by the absence of several teeth. While traditional bridges require the alteration of existing teeth, implant bridges are supported entirely by the posts.
Overdentures – This restoration only requires three to four implants and is kept in place by gold bar or locator attachments, which works like a ball and socket. If the structure is not substantial enough to support the implants, Dr. Rothschild is able to provide bone graft procedures on the same day as placement.
During the exam, we take impressions which we then send to our trusted implant laboratory. We use 3D models of your jaw and CAT-scan guided placement in order to achieve ideal results. The design of our operatories, from the color of the walls to the lighting installed, ensures that the color of your restorations match the shade of your natural teeth wherever you go.
The first appointment after your exam and consultation is used for implant placement and planning for the final restorations. After your dental implants have fully integrated with your jawbone, we will have you return in order to place the restorations.
